Mines

Twenty-five tiles and a bomb count you choose yourself. That choice is your variance dial, and the odds behind it are simple enough to work out exactly.

How Mines works

Twenty-five tiles, and you choose how many of them are bombs — anywhere from 1 to 24. Reveal a safe tile and your multiplier rises. Reveal a bomb and the round ends. Cash out whenever you want.

Choosing the bomb count is choosing your variance, out in the open. Three bombs gives a gentle climb over many picks; twenty-four is one pick at a huge multiplier. The house edge is the same either way.

The odds, exactly

With three bombs on the board, the first pick is safe 22 times in 25 — 88%. The second is 21 in 24, the third 20 in 23. Chain them and the probability of surviving five picks is about 50%: five picks is a coin flip, not the safe stretch it feels like.

Where players go wrong

The classic mistake is the long tail. A multiplier that has already climbed feels safer than it is, because the surviving-picks probability falls fastest at the end — with three bombs, going from ten safe picks to twelve costs you more probability than the first six combined.

Pick a target before the round, not during it. The game is designed so that the moment you are up feels exactly like the moment before you are not.

Frequently asked questions

Is the bomb placed after I pick?
No — the layout comes from the seed pair generated before the round. That is what the fairness panel lets you verify: the board was set before your first click.
How many mines should I set?
It sets your variance, not your edge. Three is the common middle: enough climb to be worth cashing, enough survival to reach it.
Is there an auto mode?
Yes — a preset tile pattern and a target multiplier can be repeated automatically. It is convenience, not advantage.
What is the biggest possible multiplier?
The extremes come from 24 bombs on a single pick. The payout is enormous and it lands one time in twenty-five.
